Rumpke Earns Green Business Certification in Dayton
DAYTON, Ohio—Oct. 21, 2013—Rumpke has earned a Green Business Certification at its East Monument Avenue facilities in Dayton.
The certification is offered through Montgomery County’s Dayton Regional Green 3 program. A wide range of criteria was met, including water and energy conservation, pollution prevention, environmentally preferable purchasing and solid waste reduction and recycling.
“Being Ohio's Recycling Leader, I felt it was time that we move beyond the traditional workplace recycling program and engage a more comprehensive approach,” said Rumpke Regional Vice President Mike Bramkamp. “Attaining this certification is a natural progression for Rumpke. We are committed to environmental sustainability in all aspects of our business. Every office employee, driver and mechanic has the ability to make a positive impact.”
Rumpke employees have pledged to support a new Sustainability Mission Statement by engaging in learning opportunities and other activities, such as reducing use of energy and disposable utensils.
"It's important for us to lead by example," said Route Analyst Jim Clark. "I think it's great all the employees have been given an opportunity to contribute to this mission."
Rumpke employs more than 200 people in Dayton and provides waste, recycling and portable restroom services. The company’s local facilities include a recycling plant, customer call center, and vehicle maintenance garage.
