DAYTON, Ohio—March 14, 2012—Rumpke will provide a static accident scene and conduct an accident investigation training class for police officers and employees March 16, 2012 at the Entrepreneur Center in Dayton.
Experienced members from the Rumpke Corporate safety department will teach appropriate procedures for dealing with traffic accidents. Lectures, small group activities and field exercises involving mock accidents will focus on:
• Taking on-site photographs
• Conducting interviews
• Drawing field sketches
• Collecting evidence
The class is instructed by Rumpke Safety Director Larry Stone and Rumpke Corporate Loss Control Manager Dan Katt. Stone worked 13 years as a police officer and 17 years as a firefighter. Katt spent 27 years with the Cincinnati Police Department, including 10 years investigating serious and fatal accidents in the traffic bureau.
“Nearly 1,200 Rumpke trucks are on the street everyday, and accidents are an unfortunate reality for our industry,” said Stone. “A thorough accident review is necessary to determine the series of events that occurred.”
