History
- Rumpke is a family‐owned and operated business, founded in 1932 by William Rumpke near Cincinnati, Ohio.
- The Montgomery County Landfill has been in operation since 1972. Rumpke purchase the site in 1989 and has continued to operate the facility as a valuable asset to Montgomery County.
Current Operations
- The landfill is permitted to receive municipal solid waste (MSW) and construction demolition debris (CDD).
- The facility currently consists of a total of 353 acres, with 97.25 acres permitted for waste disposal.
- Rumpke’s Montgomery County landfill receives an average of 700 tons of material daily.
- The landfill is open to the public Monday through Friday and a half day on Saturday.
- In 2008, the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection issued Rumpke a permit to expand the landfill, securing affordable, local disposal services for an additional 20 years.
- Rumpke’s Montgomery County facility employs nearly 90 people.
