The Monroe County Resource Recovery Facility accepts municipal solid waste and construction and demolition debris. The site doesn’t accept hazardous waste (or household hazardous waste) or industrial waste. Certain items may be restricted or require special handling such as batteries.
Where do I take large items, furniture, etc., for disposal?
Large items such as furniture and appliances can be disposed of at the Monroe County Resource Recovery Facility. Freon does need to be properly removed from appliances.
How can I dispose of a mattress?
Mattresses can be disposed of at the Resource Recovery Facility. Unlike with curbside collection, there is no need to wrap and seal in plastic if dropping off at the facility.
